On January 19-20, the work assessment and exchange meeting of Zhejiang Province's "13th Five-Year Plan" major scientific and technological projects for the breeding of new forest varieties was held in Hangzhou in 2017. The advisory expert group is composed of Zhang Shougong, president of the Chinese Academy of Forestry and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and seven experts from Nanjing Forestry University, Shanghai Academy of Life Sciences, Zhejiang University, China Rice Research Institute and Zhejiang Forestry Department. Qian Yuhong, Director of Rural Department of Zhejiang Science and Technology Department, and Shao Hui, Special Director, were invited to attend the meeting. The assessment and exchange meeting was presided over by Professor Shi Jisen, the head of the expert group and former vice president of Nanjing Forestry University.

Before the meeting, the Advisory Expert Group held a preparatory meeting. Shao Hui briefly introduced the background and expected objectives of the breeding project. Wang Haojie, director of the Institute of Subtropical Forestry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry (hereinafter referred to as the Institute of Subtropical Forestry), the leading unit of the special project, put forward suggestions on how to play the role of experts and strengthen annual work guidance, and thanked the experts for their guidance on the special work of breeding new forest varieties in Zhejiang Province. At the meeting, Wang Yangdong, the person in charge of the special project and deputy director of Yalin Institute, reported on the progress of the special project of breeding new forest varieties in 2017.The results of spot checks on the implementation of the project in 2017 and the results of supervision and inspection of funds were reported. The leaders of each project made work reports respectively. After listening to the reports of various topics, the advisory expert group put forward opinions and suggestions on improving the quality of project implementation and strengthening scientific and technological innovation. Academician Zhang Shougong emphasized that the first is to organize the implementation and summary around the objectives of the subject and the key problems to be solved; the second is to pay attention to the integrity of the summary materials and the unification of the format, and the results must be achieved during the implementation of the project; the third is to focus on the problems and achievements solved by the subject when reporting; the fourth is to highlight the key points and explain the highlights; Fifth, the person in charge of the project should be fully familiar with the contents of each sub-project, improve the story and plot of the report content, and establish the relevance between the contents.

Qian Yuhong fully affirmed the great attention and a large number of effective organization and management work of the special supporting unit Yalin Institute, and put forward hopes and requirements for strengthening special management, promoting special output, and enhancing the contribution of special projects in the social and economic development of Zhejiang Province: First, the leading unit of the project should further implement the legal person responsibility system. Second, we should attach importance to communication and strengthen the exchange and sharing of information, materials and methods. Thirdly, we should explore the application of the assessment results to the allocation of post-subsidy funds and implement dynamic management.Strengthen the consciousness of "responsibility and action" of participants. Fourthly, we should attach importance to the academic atmosphere, strengthen cooperation, focus on the construction goal of "Zhejiang Grand Garden", take the project as the carrier, and jointly promote the level of forest breeding in Zhejiang Province to be in the forefront of the country. After the assessment and exchange meeting, Wang Yangdong convened all the special participants to hold a special internal work exchange meeting, and put forward new requirements from the aspects of strengthening project organization and management, better fulfilling the breeding objectives of new forest varieties in Zhejiang Province during the 13th Five-Year Plan, promoting the progress of forest breeding in Zhejiang Province and supporting social and economic development. More than 90 persons in charge of special projects and sub-projects, scientific research management and financial management personnel of the project undertaking units participated in the meeting.
